Bad Invention

I believe fast food is a bad invention. Not eating fast foods can help you avoid deficiency-related health problems such as anemia, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases. The Dietary Guidelines explain that high proportions of undesirable nutrients edge out the more valuable vitamins, minerals and dietry fibers that your body needs. For example, a meal of large-sized fries, a double-meat cheeseburger, an oversized soda pop and an ice cream dessert can approach 1,500 calories, as per the USDA Nutrient Database. That's three-quarters of your daily calorie allowance in a 2,000-calorie diet, leaving just 500 calories to complete the requirements for vitamins A, B, C, D and E, fiber, calcium, magnesium and other essential minerals. Reversing this equation and using the smaller calorie allotment for less nutritious foods can help you rehabilitate a poor diet.

  1. I think that the fast food invention was a poor decision, but it was probably done for convenience and cost. The cost for fast food is cheaper than making a large meal which is why families sometimes choose fast food over a home cooked meal. Convenience, it is super easy to drive thru a McDonalds than cooking over a stove for an hour. Although fast food is easier, it is also very bad for you and people should eat it in moderation.

  2. Jacob, it sounds to me liek you are very educated on your foods. Which in some cases I like to hear because most people don't know that much about it. I agree with you though, on the fast food, because it is so unhealthy for you. especially if you eat it everyday for a long time. There are some people who eat it everyday and I don't seem to understand how they do it. yuck! :P

  3. Haha you sound very professional in this blog Marcum, way to research. :) I tend to eat fast food a lot because like Haley said, its more convenient. It is very bad for you, and that's just common sense. When you put facts with it like you did, it really puts just how bad it is for you into perspective.
